Sochi Dogs is a trailblazing nonprofit organization committed to rescuing stray dogs through education, adoption, and spay/neuter programs.
The first 15 dogs are out of Kyiv and headed to Lviv right now! From there they will be crossing the border onto shelters and foster homes in Poland and Germany. You might remember these two fellas - we rescued them from a hoarding situation. They spent a few weeks at the Sochi Shelter getting veterinary care and special food and vitamins to build up their strength. Now they are on their way to another rescue that is working on finding forever homes for them! Look at the amazing journey they've made
We are still rescuing abandoned dogs and this girlie was just picked from a parking lot. She is the newest Sochi Shelter, resident.
We are continuing to help animals caught in the horrific fighting in Ukraine in any way we can. We work with several small rescues on evacuating their animal outside of Ukraine. The situation is awful and is changing by the hour as the occupation continues.
Right now we have a few primary needs:
1. Cargo vehicle from Kyiv to the border
2. Space at shelters in Poland, Slovakia, and Germany
3. Transportation from the border in Ukraine to shelters
4. Crates
Since rescue groups in the US, including Sochi Dogs, are not able to take in dogs directly from Ukraine due to the CDC import ban, we are offering help adopting EU dogs in the US to clear up space so that they can take in the influx of animals from Ukraine!
