About Sochi Dogs Rescue
Sochi Dogs is an international dog rescue organization founded in the United States to save street and abandoned dogs through an active adoption program, spay/neuter initiative, and educational campaigns. Every year we adopt nearly 100 dogs into homes around the world. For every dog that finds a home, another one gets taken off the street.
About Our Shelter
Our shelter is located in Sochi, Russia and it is home to 50-60 dogs at any given time. The shelter is a one-of-a-kind sanctuary where dogs are able to get a nutritious meal, essential veterinary care, and lots of love before they are ready to find their forever homes. All the dogs get monthly heartworm and flea and tick preventive medications.
The dogs live together in runs of two to three so they learn to get along. During the day the dogs are let out into a big field where they can play and get plenty of exercise. Our caregiver Masha lives at the shelter permanently with her son Platon. Platon interacts with all of the dogs so that when they are adopted they are always great with kids.
About Our Adoption Process
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. They get a bath and additional deworming medication before they go home. They arrive with an international passport and vaccination certificate. Our adoption fee to the EU countries depends on the final destination and varies from 500 EUR to 650 EUR. The adoption fee covers all vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, and transportation.
To start the adoption process you need to submit our adoption application here. We’ll contact you within 72 hours to schedule a phone call. We do everything we can to ensure a successful placement. This means we want to learn about your home, lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a canine companion. Our matching process is one of the factors responsible for our high rate of successful adoptions.
Once we’re positive we have the perfect dog for you, you need to put down a 100 EUR deposit and we’ll get started on making travel arrangements and coordinating time and place for you to meet your new family member. Dogs usually arrive within 3-4 weeks after the deposit is paid.
All of our adopters have a 1-week trial period to decide if the dog is the right match for you. Should you decide the adoption is not working out, you can notify us within the first week and we will coordinate a time to take the dog back and issue a refund of the adoption fee less the 100 EUR deposit. You will need to commit to fostering the dog for 14 dogs should the placement not work out.
Support After Adoption
Once you bring home a Sochi dog, you’re part of the Sochi Dog Family! We have an excellent community of adopters that share stories about their Sochi dogs and ask and answer questions in our closed Facebook group. If you ever run into a training or behavioral question, we have experts on our team that will help guide you through it.
